A new start

I am sure the wounds will heal,
but the scars will always remain,
I know the grief won't kill,
but I will always feel the pain.

I will permit you to forget,
and will allow you to leave.
If you promise not to regret,
maybe someday I will forgive.

In future, when you try,
and think of past for a while.
You will remember me as a guy,
who just wanted to see you smile.

As I sit and and stare at setting sun,
the darkness engulfing its glory.
I realize I am just a human,
and there will be an end to my story.

Tonight through my sadness and sorrow,
I will try to repair my broken heart.
So when night wakes to a better tomorrow,
I can give myself a new start.
