The truth

It's honesty, what always people expect,
without realizing the effect of its impact.
For truth can be like a double edged knife,
the wound it inflicts can maim them for life.

From distance, a fact appears with a glow,
making them feel that there's more to know.
But the flame of reality can make them blind,
uncontrollable it is, it can blow their mind.

So sometimes a deceitful path you must take,
and twist the truth for your listeners sake.
Eventually against you they will turn,
and walk out on you, never to return.

I made myself bold,
and the truth I told.
Now with a broken pride,
I only wish I had lied.
